“… and take the afternoon off, shoot take the whole week off — tell you what been nice knowing you.”.“But boss, it took years to learn to do this job right. If you hire him, he’ll ruin it and everyone will be out of work.”
happened 2 me 4 real. got a years back pay plus bennies galore from boss by using nephew as a pawn. was dumped during my 5 wk vacation with pay. later i found out the nephew got promoted 2 assistant director of nothing then co went belly up.
I used to work for a company that had a policy of not promoting from within (it was supposed to avoid office politics) so we all had to train our own supervisors. Of course, some of them didn’t get trained properly, but…
It was early in my career that I was told by my boss that a degree was more important than experience. I had to train the new “gifted” employee. When you know what you are doing you find obvious short cuts that achieve the desired outcome without compromising the company’s rules. Why tell the “gifted” employee and the company something that was obvious. I wasn’t paid to and they wouldn’t listen because of my status. I ended up retiring middle management and the new employee just didn’t make it. Training really can be a a bitch some times.

This cartoon was probably funny when it was first drawn. It’s too true to be funny now.

Training? You mean some companies actually train people?
