chip: pick up shovel
dig ditch
charley: you ever think about what you're qualified to do if this newspaper comic strip thing of yours goes away?
chip: yeah Im practicing it right now as a matter of fact...
All you need is another good supervisor and three trucks around and a list of government regulations on where to dig and the Gas company to survey the area so you don’t hit a main and the neighbors to hang over the fence and a much more detailed manual showing the different techniques of shoveling and then…you’re ready to go.
freeholder1 - Don’t forget the OSHA approved safety courses and equipment. EPA black plastic with stakes to contain any yuchs you may run into. 2 year Evironmental Impact Study to make sure you’re not going to upset an endangered earthworm.
Excellent idea-todays strip. I really enjoyed so long ago when the author would join in with the characters. If the ,”mice” could be pit in the ditch and covered perhaps more readers will happen. As soon as I see the mice I turn to the next comic, why bother.

I dig this strip too Carols! Sometimes, it’s a dirty strip, but I always enjoy reading it. “Like Sand through the hourglass, this is Overboard.”
Mornin’ crew!

If your ditch-digging is anywhere near as good as your comic writing…

Has the Overboard character “the guy who does the strip” ever been positively identified as “Chip”?
That being said, it’s often difficult for ex-strippers to go legit…

I hate to say this, but don’t they have machines to dig ditches now?

commerce1943: “Yeah, they wind up married to washed-up old f**ts, and have to live in some god-forsaken liitle town in a fly-over state.
“Ooops, a little more personal bitterness leaked out.”
Yeah, but they’re still your parents, so ya gotta love ‘em anyway.

Stand strong, Chip! (Admittedly I’m right in there with the digging at such time as the novel thing goes awry… but positive thinking!!)
Pardon the interloper, Crew… ;)
