87 pounds? Sounds like he needs to do a few more laps around the ship….

Our neighbours’ chocolate lab is over 70 pounds and she isn’t even a year old yet. She doesn’t ask to sit on your knee. She takes possession of it as surely it is her right to do so especially if you are holding a glass of wine. She is a wino but then so is our sheltie….but there is about 50 lbs difference. Oh my aching knees!!! TGIF!!!!!

when my son’s Dane got to 87 lbs ( at 6 mos ), she outweighed him by 30 lbs. by the time she got to her full 128 lbs, she had learned to turn around and back into the chair and sit on his lap with her front feet on the floor. she was still his “lap dog”.

Avast, me hearties! Arrrr, my border collie’s only 55 pounds, but I still let him sit on my lap.

That’s why I like Pomeranians (sorry Louie) they are beautiful dogs. My friend has a very handsome Tibetan Spaniel who loves laps (he’s only around 10-20 lbs so very easy to accommodate)
Mornin’ my mighty mateys!

I agree Allan. Poms are lovely. My Grandma had one. He wasn’t exactly blonde…more of a carmel color and he was her precious lap baby. My Grandpa ( affectionately) called him “the hunk of useless waste”. Course Papa had a cocker spaniel that was a “useless hunk of waste” too…but he and that dog were best buds…especially at nap time in the lazy boy. Dogs and grandparents are gone now but thanks for bringing that funny and poignant memory back to me.

The little lady to the left is about 55 lb and still considers herself a lapdog. I don’t mind if I’m sitting on the floor. It gets a bit much when she tries to climb in the chair (especially the one at the computer).

My daughter’s lab is around 60 and she can lap water from her dish just fine.

Had a chocolate lab that weighed 115 lbs. Wish he was still around to try and sit on my lap.
