Regardless when it’s celebrated, I do take umbrage at fathers being portrayed as lazy, perhaps likable goofs while moms are portrayed as the ever-hard-working, selfless jack-of-all-trades. It’s time for these stereotypes to die. For what it’s worth, my dad was doing laundry and dishes back in the 60s (as I do too – in fact already have done this morning). Moms and Dads are partners, and it really is time to treat us as such. At the very least don’t mock someone on a day supposedly reserved to honor them. Humph.

A woman will work from sun to sun… But a mans work is never done. And again at night , to them it’s exciting … To us it’s another mission. LOL

If I am not mistaken, Father’s Day was actually developed to give dad a day to spend with his kids, as he was usually too busy working (or in some cases playing) to do so. Mother’s Day was developed to give mum a day off from taking care of the kids. And for those fathers being celebrated today, happy Father’s Day.

I have a “tablet”; actually, an iPad. It was a gift from one of my kids a few years ago and it was fun to play with… for a while.I have thought about tossing it away; but, as in the today’s strip, it would more than likely come back. Before you think I’m an inconsiderate SOB for tossing a gift from my children; remember, I said “thought” not “did”! It is sitting on the end table next to me as I type this on the Mac Book Pro I had to purchase to use the iPad!

I’m the mom who took care of the kids (5), cooking, dishes, laundry, etc. All the housework.

My hubby worked that 40+ job all week, as a mechanic on construction equipment. Outside in all kinds of weather—hot, cold, rainy, etc. When he came home, he was the mechanic, plumber, gardener, all around fix up guy. A real hard worker.

We were partners in our marriage. Doesn’t get any better than that.
