So he is asking the same questions we were asking yesterday: how did she get the letter out and why such an old stamp? No solution there, unless any of our speculations were right.
And there goes Dick heading off into the night all by himself again, and remember that his Wrist Wizard is “in the shop” for upgrades. Is he walking right into a death trap that was set up for him? What if Annie wrote the letter under duress?
Shame on Tracy! Very poor procedure here; or rather lack thereof! No partner, no backup, no communicator (Wrist Wizard), no clear plan. Tracy could be in for a heap of trouble; maybe by tomorrow Annie won’t be the only eponymous character missing….
Hello all; new commenter here. Believe it or not the last the last significant rememberance I have about Tracy was the death of Moon Maid; was a bit graphic for a news strip of the time. I came back when I heard she was being brought back to see how it was worked and I’ve been lurking since.
Re: recent strips & comments:Hmmm… Somebody mentioned Annie being mixed up with the Philadelphia experiment a day or two ago… A letter with a vintage postage due stamp.. . I’m thinking we will be seeing a very different Annie in the near future
tess wont be back til NOON?!?!?! what?!? tracy needs to get his priorties straight! Tess is pulling an all nighter with johnny (THE MAN!!) adonis and she’s ben gone most of the day and now she wont be back until noon… and he has NO PROBLEM with this??
not that i dont trust johnny, but bb eyes, mumbles, doubleup, blackjack, abner, and mrs flattop are ALL out there somewhere, and the easiest way to get to tracy is thru his family!
fear not tho, gentle reader.. all will be wrapped up in SIX SHORT MONTHS!!!!
Can’t sleep, warm milk doesn’t help, nothing on the tube but reruns of F-Troop, might as well take a trip to a mysterious, potentially dangerous island. Nothing out of the ordinary about that!
“I’m thinking because the design was pretty basic and not very sexy. I liked them too but I admit they looked like not much thought went into drawing it. If it had more glam – fins and such (and a joy-stick lieu of crutches) they might have received more respect.”Yeah, the original air cars manufactured by the moon people were pretty basic, but they got more high tech as the years went by and Diet got involved in the design. Here’s the two-man version Tracy & co. were using in 1974:
Annie is being held captive on a remote, unaccessible island by LINOGE, all tracy/warbucks needs to do is “give him what he wants and he will go away” :)
As for the air cars, Gould did try to “sexy” them up a bit in the early 70’s by adding a windshield and a vertical rack for the police rifles. I did prefer the Diet Smith 2-man air cars, as to me, they were in the same mold as the (then) 2-Way Wrist TV…
I like the night scenes. Tracy is in the dark about Annie’s letter and seems to be headed for the mysterious Thunder Island. Joe’s art fits perfectly with all that.
Last I checked Dick Tracy was a comic strip character, he is not a real person! If that is still correct then I don’t see how an imaginary person either needs or can obtain sleep by reading a different comic strip.
Well, in the last story, Dick Tracy was seen often reading other comic strips, and actually, the comics section also had Annie on the front, so you can’t say he doesn’t read comics.

Good morning fellow DT and Annie fans!
Is Tracy going on the search for Annie alone?

I think Annie is being held by the Boko Haram.

She won’t see his e-mail until after he gets himself into some serious trouble.

Tracy really could use one of the old flying buckets right now for the trip out to Thunder Island.

Re yesterday’s “18 miles away by air” reference…could that mean 18 miles away from the mainland, and not 18 mi from Tracy’s house?

For some reason it still seems weird for Dick Tracy to be talking about email.

Maybe the stamp came from someone’s collection?

Annie is being held hostage by a mad philatelist on Thunder Island. That should narrow it down a bit.

We know Tracy’s going to get into trouble because he isn’t wearing his wrist wizard. Has he ever used a regular cell phone?

Diet Smith is working on a time travel project, but there’s been no indication Annie has been involved with it.

“Why such an old stamp?” Because Annie’s in the past is my guess. And I assume the key to getting her back will be found on Thunder Island.

I know it won’t happen, but if time travel is involved, could we see Annie and Tracy back in the 1930’s, the way it all began?

Dick would not be without some back up communication device – department issued radio or something.
