Great opening gag. Dick York and Dick Sargent both played “Darrin Stevens” in the long-running TV sitcom Bewitched. Dick York was the first “Darrin” from 1964 to 1969, and Dick Sargent was the second “Darrin” from 1969 to the series cancellation in 1972. Will Ferrel played the third “Darrin” in the 2005 movie. It was a sleeper hit.
The hard thing is getting the collectors to take it away! I had an outside trash bin that was falling apart — the wheels had broken off and the plastic was split where the axle attached. I had such difficulty getting rid of it, despite the fact that where I live, the trash and recycling people will take things of any size you put out at the curb.
First, I tried putting it sideways atop the recycle bin. Nope, they left it with the other receptacles.
Then, I tried putting a sign on it for the recyclers(“broken! Please take away!”), to no avail.
Sigh….Fine, I give up on recycling it, just want it gone. Tried another sign for the trash pick up, but couldn’t get them to take it either, they just set it back upright with my other cans.
I finally had to cut it up into pieces to get rid of it! And that hard plastic is NOT easy to cut through, had to resort to power tools.
@calliopejane… same thing, tried to throw away a trash can that was in good condition, we just weren’t using it. I watched the recycling guy get out of his truck, take it out of my recycling barrel and leave it on my lawn. Luckily, my neighbor took it. :-)

Old recycling bins? Don’t we just throw than out beside the road?

Same thing that happens to old garbage cans — you can never get rid of them, even if you label them asking the collectors to take them.
