Ginny: Excuse me, kid. Joanie: Um... I guess I'll just have the pea soup, Evelyn... Evelyn: You'll like it-- made it fresh today... Ginny: Uh, it seems the dean has approved my campaign. It would also seem, then, that I am suddenly in great need of a campaign manager! There's no money in it, of course-- it's a thankless job with long hours and unbearable pressure, but the rewards in terms of personal fulfillment are inestimable! Joanie: Whadda ya say? Evelyn: Let me think it over.

Joanie, don’t tease your roommate like that.-TAMMY DUCKWORTH FOR PRESIDENT!

Tammy Duckworth? Is she running? She would be great.

Joanie is quick on her feet in this one.

Tammy appears to be a worthy candidate, but unfortunately, she was born in Thailand, so she can’t be President unless an amendment to the Constitution is passed.

Her father was not an American citizen?
beprepn over 10 years ago
Shucks – it appears her father was a Brit (and a Marine). The Brits – the very people the law was designed to keep from the presidency.

Well darn I guess Ted Cruz can’t be prez either. Or Arnold Schwarzenegger. John McCain was born in panama but never mind.

@montessoriteacherYesterday, bawana posted the following:What we truly need, is a: female, mixed-minority, semi-disabled, veteran for a president. Then maybe everybody will shut up.-Turns out, it describes Tammy Duckworth. She was born in Bangkok but her father is an American who can trace his roots in the US back to Colonial times. Under US law, that makes her a “natural born citizen.” Her mother is Thai of Chinese heritage. She has served her country bravely, losing both legs in Iraq when the helicopter she was in was shot down in Iraq. At a time when veterans feel neglected, they will have someone in the White House who understand their needs. She understands firsthand the foolishness of running into a war blindly. So, let’s get this ball rolling.

@The Wolf in Your MidstWe should knock down that wall — and other walls — NOW! It is too late in this great nation’s existence to say, “it will be awhile before we started knocking down…”

She just needs to be prepared to be attacked on health issues (look at Hillary): “How do we know she doesn’t have PTSD? Can she serve without legs? Is she mentally stable?”Never mind that they started the war that gave her the injuries.

It sounds good to me, too; Duckworth/Sanders sounds even better..Warren might run if Hillary didn’t. But, since I don’t see a snowstorm outside, I’m not counting on that.

‘any US military base anywhere is US soil.’.Worse than that, during the campaign, I read that he wasn’t even born on the base, but at a hospital in Panama City (and not FL).

Well, sounds like what we need to do is un-nominate him as the GOP candidate for president in 2008, ex post facto or whatever.
kaffekup over 10 years ago
Naw, we’re just still happy that a furriner didn’t win the 2008 election!
