On the “Doggone Funny” cartoon: When we lived on our sailboat, my husband would practice on the bagpipe chanter (practice reed). One of our cats, Genny (female) would sit beside him on the bunk, put her paw on his arm, lean in, look into his face as if to say, “There, there, it’ll be alright soon!” Wish I had thought to take a picture.
