That is why it talks about the rabbit chewing it cud in the bible. There are 2 types of feces. They chew those that have only been expelled once.

I had a vet tell me once that dogs sometime eat their own poo because a dog’s sense of smell is so good, they can still smell undigested food/nutrition in it. That kind of fits in with this rabbit thing, I guess. Oh, well, double your pleasure…?

I wonder if that applies only to wild rabbits or does the rabbit food of “domesticated” rabbits let them get away without doing that? I’m sure they still do it, or try to, habits like that are hard to break.

As for dogs doing this, I read that there is a reason that a mother dog will eat her own dogs poop. Of course, I forgot it. A friend of mine just assumed his dog was just “cleaning up” after the puppies, but there was a reason for it.Dogs eating other dogs poop, could be a hold over from that. But I know that Beagles LOVE eating poop. And I read that cat poop, is a downright delicacy for dogs for some reason. Like the food they eat (and then poop) is something that dogs don’t normally get (like fish based food).(and Beagles REALLY LOVE cat poop. They love it so much, they even roll in it, all kinds of poop, just roll all over it. Great dogs, but a stupid bunch).

Try to imagine Bugs Bunny doing that.

Rabbit excrement comes in two forms, pellets and mush, depending whether it’s on the first or second run.

No, no no no NO! Rabbits do not eat their own poop. It’s more like a cow eating its cud. There is no fecal matter in their pellets before they are re-ingested.
