Garfield’s mutant foot growth syndrome is of some concern.
Cartoonists’ characters evolve naturally many times without the cartoonist realizing it, out of the natural character growth of expression and story telling. Eyes get larger to allow for more expression. Animals stand up to allow them to participate in story lines more traditional non-anthropomorphic animals couldn’t take part in easily. Somtimes they get smaller to allow them to fit within the restrictive space of a comic strip frame more easily.
However, all of this still doesn’t explain Garfields mutant foot growth affliction.
Right on LADYWOLF17. Most of today’s animated cartoons’ artwork is grotesque and uninspired.
Except for Sponge Bob, look to the Japanese for great artwork in animated cartoons

The cartoon strips still look a lot better than the animated cartoons that you see on T.V. these days.

Sometimes I even find SpongeBob grotesque. It’s the writing that I look forward to.
Avatar of the Air has been the best I’ve seen that’s not anime, and Kim Possible was pretty good for Disney.

love comic strips and cartoons, including spongebob, chowder, fairly oddparents, venture bros, secret saturdays and semi-oldies like animaniacs

I always watched “Little Bear” with my children. It was very well done.
