I remember Charlie Brown’s (The restaurant) had a salad bar with shrimp we wiped them out – maybe that’s why they went out of business- and got rid of the shrimp before they did.
There was once a place in Dallas that had a huge salad bar. It had avocado wedges, jalapeño slices, tomato slices, chopped onions, and I had to make my own for three visits before they got the hint and included guacamole.
I have to be careful when going to the salad bar because I will fill up on it before the meal comes. I’ll put just a small pile of lettuce down, but by the time I get done adding the toppings it’s overflowing the plate.

Just like an ice cream bar: it’s all about the toppings.

The toppings are OK to eat but stay away from the greens at the salad bar or the E coli will get you!

Everything but the healthy greens. I miss celery from salad bars. We used to have Super Salad but public closed the place.

There was a salad bar in Riverside that did have those big fat steak fries, but that was many years ago.
