Jiffy-Pop hats! That’s funny. I had to stop and think what Jiffy-Pop was though.

I loved to watch the foil expand, the sound of the popping, I forgot all about Jiffy Pop. Yum! Great cartoon – as usual -

Ruthie asked a Sikh to remove his turban?! Well, I guess it’s better she learn about others’ religions and cultures as a kid when people are less likely to be offended by point-blank questions and requests.

Or, if you just happen to own an actual popcorn machine, you can use that.

I tried all sorts of popping gadgets, and microwave popcorn (ugh). I finally went to the way my mother always popped corn: Big saucepan, tight fitting lid, on the stove top. Arms get a workout from shaking the pan, too… Mmmm.

Well, Ruthie didn’t know he’s not supposed to remove his turban. But I feel her pain. I remember going to the movies when I was Ruthie’s age. We would get there early and my mom would carefully pick out seats where I could clearly see the screen. And then two or three minutes before the movie started, even if there were empty seats elsewhere, invariably an adult would come and plunk him/herself directly in front of me. I remember all the Walt Disney movies with a head in the middle of them. To this day, I always look carefully when I take a seat at the movies and will NOT sit in front of a small child.

My favorite popcorn popper was my West Bend electric wok. It made much better popcorn than my microwave.
