Sales of non-existing homes were non-existent.

Way back at the beginning of 2020, someone started building an addition to the small sub we live in. They got as far as putting in roads, and placed water and sewer pipes. Then in April, just stopped. Left all of their machines, which are still there. Not a clue what is going on, but both new and existing homes are selling like crazy, sales in out area jumped 21% over last year. But CV 19 came back bigly and construction, well some construction, stopped. road building OTOH continues apace.

I always wondered about that statistic. For every home that’s bought, someone has to sell. How many of those owners couldn’t afford their house anymore?

I have a non-existing home somewhere. Someday I will find it and then my ship will come in and I will sail off into the sunset.

Aren’t non-existing homes called “vacant lots”?
