We had those to identify the basket holding our clothes while we swam. At the end of your day at the pool you turned in the bracelet (or anklet depending on where you wore it) and got back the basket with your clothes so you could change and go home.

I have one of those that works equally well on mosquitoes. (The advantage is that those at least don’t poison me.)
