Eternal security, you can’t ‘lapse’. God love you. Death is sometimes a kindness.

“…sometimes a kindness” – even if He uses thugs, cement overshoes, and a terrified drowning. It’s just His way of saying He loves you.

A mother may abandon her child, but God will never abandon you.

God can’t abandon you only because he was never invested in you.

Interesting - many of us got this strip yesterday, dated Feb. 26, and left 12 comments, none of which show up on the SAME comic, now dated Feb. 27. Is Godman fooling around with his powers? Godman, are you there?

There is no god, and the “God-man” strips are among Bolling’s worst.

I see there are two files with this same comic with comments out there in gocomics land.

Vengeful – and insecure.

It seems like the joke was missed by a lot of people. It has nothing to do with whether there is a god or not. It’s about religions insisting that people contribute to them in order to remain in good standing, and ultimately not be forsaken by the god that they worship. The idea that God-Man would ignore his plight because he didn’t send in the fifty cents fifty years ago is what’s funny. Whether there really is or is not a god is ignored in the strip; the fact that all organized religions are about money is what is brought to light.

If your preferred method of acting tough is to beat up the myths people create to give them comfort when everyone they love eventually drops dead, at least pick one whose motto isn’t “turn the other cheek.” If you want to really tempt fate and show some truly ballsy impertinence for once, draw a comic called “Fuck You Islam”.

The Godman series is not about God - it is about people’s beliefs about God, which are often rather funny or weird or dangerous to others…
