Walt’s memory is pretty good for an old dude.

Walt gets around pretty well for a man his age. Most supercentenarians are wheelchair bound.

If he’s been there before, why did they make him do the paperwork again? Not even the walk-in clinic I sometimes go to does that. They keep my info in the computer and they just ask me if anything’s changed. If I ever saw a magazine dated 1963 at the doctor’s office, I’d probably steal it and try to hawk it on eBay. That’s what Gerdo should do, and then maybe she’ll get busted and do a stretch in Sing Sing.

Call me germ-phobic, but I no longer touch the magazines at my doctors’ offices…especially if it’s cold and flu season. I bring my own reading material, or surf the web on my iPhone or laptop!

Old dude’s memories are great for things in 1963. It’s 19 minutes ago we have a problem with.

Gertie just wants something to read while waiting she can do that and if Mr. Walt is not hard of hearing read to him but not to annoy others in the waiting room.

Where I go at the Dr.’s office they have medical files on computers no longer need someone for files. I wonder what year this current strip is?

Considering Walt is over 100 he’s doing swell. My Mom is 91 and in a memory care facility. She is the oldest one there and none of those folks are as on top of things as is Walt.. Literary/comic license. Being that old is not so cute.

In the doctors offices where I once worked, charts inactive for two years were moved to on-site storage, after five to off-site and purged at 10 years. If Walt hadn’t been to the doctor in awhile it’s possible his records were moved off-site and that they didn’t have time to retrieve them yet so he would have to fill out a new demographics sheet.

I work in a medical office. Some insurances require annual updates of paperwork and signatures in order to file.

You figure they would have put Walt’s records on the computer the last time he was in? 1962 wasn’t a good year for computers!

Those aren’t Chipper’s magazines they must belong to the doctor he works for since Chip was only 18 back in ‘63 and not working as a pa yet.

I take in almost-current hobby magazines, with a local club address sticker over the address label. Somebody else might enjoy them. Try it!
