    Um…. what?

There’s a “Nobody” who lives in a round strip, with no corners…. and the baby there has a name… “P.J.”

Is this the same old Nobody?Did he sneak off to a rectangular strip, just so he could put some other baby in a corner?

    Why?Nobody knows.But I guess it’s Nobody’s business.

Perhaps also a reference from the dirty dancing movie.

10-points to Thompson House for a double media reference.

Other than the fact that it is coming to dodge taking ownership for your actions, is there some other reference going on?

For those who haven’t got it – it’s a reference to the movie Dirty Dancing – “nobody puts Baby in a corner!”

Jeffy pops up in “Pearls Before Swine” sometimes (and never in a flattering way!) The legendary “Sam’s Strip” would have cameos from almost any conceivable comic strip characters (including Thurber seals a time or two).

Actually, in Family Circus it’s “Not Me” that does this kind of thing, not “Nobody”, just for clarification…

    Casper, The Unfriendly Ghost.

You beat me to it, Ant Dude!

C Johns, thanks for clarifying the quote.

Tomorrow Marmaduke will make an appearance sitting on a couch, and his owner will say something witty like, “Oh, now, you know you’re not supposed to be on the couch.”

If it isn’t funny to you, then you’re just fine.

Thank you, Al S and C Johns!I have seen the movie, but it was long ago, and to me, apparently not as memorable as it was to some people.I’d totally forgotten that line.

Now I get that the comic is funny.

Pschearer… thanks, but no… I didn’t get it. Not till I had help.

And Dan Reynolds…. Please…. if you don’t like other cartoonist’s work, you don’t have to read it… or to be so rude.

How much did you appreciate negative comments like that on your strip?Anyway, you’re right…that line about Marmaduke is devoid of humor…. But if you think it compares to today’s Brevity, it just means you didn’t get the joke.

Kind of reminds me of the following story, Not sure why…

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done

Susan,Have you read the other comments….a lot of people don’t “get it”. I’m not making a comment on the BREVITY cartoon as a whole – just this one. If that’s being rude, then in my opinion that’s being pretty touchy.

As regards my “strip” (actually, I draw a panel), I’ve had many times when my cartoon has flopped and people have commented (when I used to be on this site). You just roll with it. I’ve done plenty of cartoons myself that I ended up not liking. No one does a winner every time.
