Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for March 17, 2010
Transcript:
Mom: Please don't play that toy ukulele while Petey's practicing his oboe. Alice: Miss Bliss says we must all make room in our homes for the Arts. Mom: Well, there's more room in the yard, so take your arts out there. Alice: Hey! Quit pushing! Alice: My home is crawling with philistines. Dill: Mine too! We had to fumigate all my stuff!

At least playing music outside means you might make a few bucks as a busker.

anyone who doesn’t like an Oboe/ Ukulele duet is definitely a Philistine in my book !
And shouldn’t Peety have to take his arts in the yard too?

I never thought before about the specific sound of a ukulele but now that I have, none other will do! Richard, you’ve outdone yourself again. :D

How do you tell a toy ukulele from a real one ????

A toy ukulele is plastic, a real one is made of wood.
@ SCOTTtheBADGER,
That video was awesome!

I wonder what it was that the little boy thought Alice meant “fumigate his stuff” :-) I have no trouble with the site because it’s now around noon - I ended my work out only about an hour ago.

I’m sure by making room for the Arts Miss Bliss meant having plenty of those awesome Timmy Fretwork Cds

Madeline is SUCH a great mother! No nonsense at all, just mothering.
(BTW, cheeseguy, the link doesn’t seem to work today, but still works at yesterdays’ comic, so I got to see it again - thanks very much.)
Came back listen to the ukeleles - yes, Scotthebadger, loved it. Liked the acoustic bass, also.
