Poor parents. A kid who behaves recklessly and an extortionist babysitter.

Calvin really came down from his high flying hijinks this time…I wonder if Rosalyn will really baby-sit him the next time?! ;)

Calvin’s parents should spend more time instilling discipline. There is a reason Rosalyn is the only one who will watch over Calvin. His reputation is quite widespread.

Agency or not, if your kids were like Calvin word would have gotten around and you probably would have experienced some difficulty in finding sitters.

She didn’t even baby sit him, so she really shouldn’t be paid at all…

It just occurred to me that Watterson never did Halloween in the Calvin and Hobbes.

Calvin should have the livin’ tar beat out of him, but of course, we don’t do that any more. Instead we try to reason with kids who are not capable of thinking about consequences based onreason.

Roslyn needs to go, or needs to actually babysit. A sitter whose idea of "sitting’ is to send the child to bed at 6:30 so she can spend the entire evening on the phone with her bf is about the worst excuse for a sitter I can imagine.

I like the way when she’s looking furious, Calvin is yelling and fighting against her. Then as her face gets softer, Calvin stops fighting her, and starts feeling more and more guilty about what he’s done instead. That’s what discipline should be all about: getting kids to understand that they’ve done something wrong and shouldn’t do it again (instead of just seeing his parents’ problem with anger management).

Calvin and his mom have matching outfits today. They are both covered with dots. But that’s about all that they have in common at the moment.

Good for Roz! I would have been the sitter who fervently apologized for having let their kid get one over on me. Ouch.

It’s not often you see Calvin look genuinely guilty for his crimes.

Hmm, I guess American culture is still a mystery to me. In our country you might find a ‘local collage’ hanging on the wall of a babysitter agency. But we would not let an art installation operate it. But hey, different cultures…

OMG. There are some people who think Calvin should be “disciplined” and others who give advise about babysitters !I think they believe that’s Fox News or something.

Absolutely — and maybe she should be apologizing for sending him to bed as soon as the parents drove away.
