(Hopefully those will all open in new windows so you won’t lose your place here.)
And probably a host of others, not to mention comedians and quipsters everywhere. It might even be on Sherpa someplace too.
Is it theft, or plagiarism, or is it even over-used?
Probably not.
It’s obvious low-hanging fruit…. someone gets a bucket of water on the head, many of us immediately remember the wicked witch melting.
Some of us boomers saw “The Wizard of Oz” movie over and over in its days as a TV re-run staple.
Even which cartoonist did it first is debatable… a newspaper cartoon has to be submitted weeks or months ahead, while a web strip can be posted right up to the wire…so Scott may have done this long before Max or Maria.
Over-used? Not if no one suspected that anyone else had done it, as the others hadn’t been published yet.
As for which is funniest, which, to me, is more important…it’s kind of a toss-up.
Well, Off the Mark and Sunny Street are basically the same. And Half full and Argyle are similar, Argyle adds the wicked witch’s response. I kind of like this one more.

I have seen two other strips of the same idea. Really?
