Look, everybody, indie’s criticizing Lalo! And I’m responding to indie! Just another day at the office.

As far as the Barbie, maybe, possibly, this is making fun of the stereotyping Mattel’s engaging in? Like they couldn’t come up with any other outfit? Just because Austrians don lederhosen to play polkas doesn’t mean that’s what defines a whole ethnicity.

As far as Hispanic vs. Latino, your argument is about twenty or more years late. And yes, there are organizations that still carry the legacy name “Hispanic,” but the NAACP also stands for National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Ask an African American what they think of that term. In any case, “Hispanic” excludes Brazilians, who make up a very large number of people who live in—wait for it—Latin America. (How many people in Latin America do you think speak Latin? Frankly, this is a boneheaded argument even for you, indie.) So Latino it is.

By the way, you missed Lalo’s criticism of Obama. How conveeeeenient. Or maybe it was too subtle for you?

“Wow, tired same ol’ same ol’..”

And yet you read the comic and blather on about it every day. How tiring your piddling little existence must be.

Its only a matter of time before ‘Latino’ becomes offensive (as Hispanic has). Why not just use ‘American’ (they are from the Americas), or be country specific: Brazilian, Peruvian, Costa Rican, etc.

So to summarize indie: “I am never wrong.”

And it’s hilarious that you complain about the use of facts. Yet you never seem to counter with facts of your own. That is a kosher way to debate, you know.

Sorry, @makutaking, civility might have to wait until tomorrow.

And yet you read my blather and comment on it. What does that make your existence?

Unlike you, @don57 ain’t on here commenting every day. So I guess it’s just you and me sharing this piddling little existence, eh?

far outweighs any kindness that she could start even now

So there’s no hope? I recall you chafing against such a statement just a few days back. How about we both make a pact to be kinder and more charitable—me with you, and you with Lalo? Might there be other ways you could phrase your objections to the strip? Might there be other ways I could phrase my objections to your comments? What, to your mind, would equal kindness?

I feel Lalo’s content is most always deserving of criticism by me

This does come across as a bit self-aggrandizing, you know. The way I read many of the comments directed toward you, they’re responding more to your tone than to your message. You might throw this back at me, of course, and make another comment about my tone, but I’d just say that maybe if you think about the way you feel toward me, it’ll give you a sense of how folks, including me, feel about you.

At least Night-Gaunt doesn’t hammer away at just one comic exclusively as you seem to. Most of us who come here do so for the enjoyment of the content, and to shoot the breeze with the regulars, posters whom,in time, have become not only friends, but family. We understand that people have opinions about the content of the comics,be it the artistic style, the story arcs,or the editorials, but really;you go beyond the pale in your single-minded crusade against Lalo’s strip. So much so,that agrestic has taken up arms for the opposite stance. This comes off as a more heated version of “Argument Clinic”! I’ve checked your comments on your page, and there’s nothing but Lalo nastygrams. We get that you’ve got beef with what Lalo has to say,and that’s perfectly fine and dandy, but come on! There’s over 300 comics on this site-can you not enjoy and comment on those as well,or are you really that content to make this the The La Cucaracha Daily Show with indiethink?

Like I said, you’re more than welcome to disagree with Lalo’s content and style. You have every right to air your disagreement here in this forum. My point is that (in my observation) that’s your only reason to come here,to heavily critique, attack and revile one cartoonist to the exclusion of all else. I don’t know what else is in your queue, but it’d be refreshing to see you lighten up and comment on something else for a change. Being The Most Critical Poster In The World is hard work. Ease up and read something light like “Endtown” or something!

“Mattel rolls out a Latino doll…” If I remember correctly, Mattel came out with a Latina doll named Teresa several years ago. I have the first edition. A very pretty doll.

I don’t always read your comments, but when I do,I roll my eyes (as I’m sure we all do) at the same old, same old. Branch out, dude. Lalo will still be here to fire your ire.

Now, Agrestic wants to make a pact with me – I lay off Lalo, and she lays off me.What a sneaky way to accomplish suppressing my opinion, something she accuses me of repeatedly trying to do.

You misunderstand me. You’ve got every right to be critical of Lalo, just as I’ve a right to be critical of you. I just think we could both do it in a gentler manner.

I obviously don’t care how people perceive me.

I don’t think that’s true. Else, why would you have, on more than one occasion, tried to get me to stop posting here? And why do you keep addressing my posts to you? As well as other folks’ posts to you? It’s okay to care.

And I think I do it well and concise.

Um, no. I tend not to be concise, and neither do you. As far as well, I suppose that’s in the eye of the beholder.
