Nancy: UG! I GOTTA TAKE THIS OFF A MINUTE! My backpack is RIDICULOUS this year! How do they expect me to get ALL THAT in HERE? No backpack should be BIGGER than YOUR HEAD!
Geez! I know. When I went to school I had a pencil box I left in my desk. All I brought was lunch. We didn’t get much take home work till 7th or 8th grade!
True! A lot of school districts quit building lockers in schools because they were afraid kids were hiding drugs and guns in them. As if you can’t hide drugs and guns in backpacks…

Poor Nancy. In some school districts, all she would need is a tablet.
She sure seems to be getting along “gloriously”, isn’t she?

Talk, talk, talk. I suspect Bushmiller might have done a wordless gag where she ended up riding the pack to school.

Didn’t have backpacks when I was in school! 1956-1969. Carried books in our arms.

When I went to public school in the sixties, I used a brief case.
