So … I get it that the second guy is a cupcake, and I guess he’s an airline pilot or something. But the first guy: A cowboy, but what sweet is he?? A french fry? … with a cotton tail?? Whaaat???
A “Twinkie”, because of its soft creamy center hidden deep inside, has also become slang for several unrelated kinds of people, depending upon who’s using it.
To some people it’s a mildly offensive term for a “wuss” …a weakling or coward…. which may apply in this cartoon.
It’s used by others in a rather more offensive way to refer to an effeminate gay male …I wouldn’t think Scott would use it that way…but…um…a cowboy and a policeman…my first thought was the Village People….so maybe….
Twinkie the Kid and Captain Cupcake. Captain Cupcake is apparently made of a more substantial stuff. He did not get the cream filling scared out of him as did Twinkie the Kid. I’m really wondering how Fruit Pie the Magician managed to disappear.
The original Twinkie had a banana flavored filling that was discontinued during WWII due to food shortages. The new owners of the Hostess product line have started making the banana flavored filling again in addition to the vanilla filled Twinkie.
Thank you JP Steve! Also Brass Orchid and Coffer-Turtle.I didn’t remember those characters at all…so I’m glad to hear it has nothing to do with the Village People.
Twinkies gained notoriety in American jurisprudence in 1979 when the media widely reported the claim that Dan White, on trial for shooting San Francisco mayor George Moscone and city supervisor Harvey Milk, asserted that his consumption of junk foods such as Twinkies “had left him with diminished capacity for reason.”

That must be the new version of Twinkie….he appeared much different years ago. Haven’t tried the new ones so I can’t comment on their taste.

Twinkies were reputed to be so full of chemicals that they’d never get stale.
