And yes… since we never know when the birthday person is comingI try to have an area we can cut some cake that won’t really show in the pictures, or when we surprise theguest of honor.
THIS cake has lots of room….since the book part is propped up at an angle, and the back part is flat, like a regular cake.
We’ll toast Dazz with some mead while we eat chocolate cake!
XTI edible glitter has a handheld remote… turning it off saves a bit of energy… though it doesn’t use much anyway. And eating it while it’s running kinda tickles… little kids love that.
Hope you don’t mind, Dazz… we waited an hour and a half… I’ll have Fenton or the day crew start up the glitter again as soon as you arrive.
Well…. I have to go home soon….There’s plenty of food here for you party goers who get here in the morning…I restocked the tables…The cake is very large… please only cut pieces from the back until Dazz sees it.There’s lots of mead…along with the usual coffee, tea, and all manner of alcoholic and non-alcoholic libations.I know they’re not exactly medieval fare… considering tomatoes were thought poisonous till a couple hundred years ago…but some of you have said you wanted some of the green tomatoes… so I left a big box of fresh ones in the Tiki kitchen…please ask Fenton to get you some… no charge
I guess not enough people heard about Green Tomato Day… I’ll make more piles of fried ones for Wednesday, too.
I’ve heard several people lately say they were getting their own food from the refrigerators, the kitchen, or behind the counters….
Please!
The Tiki never closes!
It’s a 27/7 working bar and grill… .. owned by Sheriff MonkeyBlues.
I’m only the night manager… I do a lot of cooking, too, and I do serve food and drinks, when I’m here…
The Monkey does the same, in the daytime, when he’s not busy being the Sheriff.
But we also have bartenders, and a daytime cook and wait staff.
There’s no charge for party food and drink, of course…many people brought it, especially Bev and 2Old….several of us supplied mead and other drinks…The buffet table Bev set up is self serve, and I’m leaving paper plates out by the cake.
For anything else, please ask the bartender…5 nights a week, including tonight, that’s Fenton. He’ll be here till about 6am….
Fenton is very professional, and conscious of propriety…. and food safety. It drives him crazy to find people rummaging in the refrigerator!
WOW! I am duly impressed by all the greetings. Thanks, X-Tech for the impressive card, and JP Steve – just lovely!Bev has, as usual, outdone herself with all that very appropriately medieval food (and a parrot right there on the table to share it. The hunting birds are very appropriate too (they would have been used to hunt some swans and peacocks for dinner- all too abundant in those times) and my backstory has me at the court of HRE Fredrick II. Susan’s marvelous cake is beautifully done with my very personal device of a cockatoo “en close” on gules (red) and I don’t mind that some pieces were cut from the back because I slept until almost 7AM (7:17 right now).
My actual cake (now at boyfriend’s house) is a pineapple upside down (and I pre-soaked the pineapple and cherries in brandy). We had a pre-birthday party Saturday (on my regular day with him) and 2 of the box of 4 Omaha steaks cooked on his Weber with a big pan of mushrooms. I’ll be going over at 4 to fix another meal with the other steaks, steamed broccoli, cauliflower au gratin and more cake before we go to our square dance where they are holding graduation and a celebratory dance with an audience of more friends and family (just happened to be my birthday) and I’ll be wearing their club’s colors of teal and black (all with extra sequins, of course)!
I still haven’t watched some of Bev’s films, but the calligraphy is lovely; I’d have to practice more to be able to do so well on live film. And I have no fear of the bees. My boyfriend also enjoys them and has kept hives as a boy. I may even convince him to help me build one in my yard when I finally get to move (I’ll be dropping the price on this house another 2000 this week to 275 before the next open house Saturday). It’s taking too long to move. I’m 77 today.
And I went on and on and still did not thank Happy for the lovely bunny in calligraphy or Too Old for the lovely medieval lady – but you KNOW I enjoyed them. Now I’ll grab a bite of breakfast (a banana, breakfast bar and almond milk – the same as we’ll have tomorrow) . . .
And STEL, now that I’ve had a bite of breakfast, I realized that I did not thank her for the wonderful party invitation complete with sparkly lute player – Thank you!
Now that I’m a little bit awake, I’ll put on a few clothes and review more of the online square dance calls. It IS a little difficult to memorize so many elaborate calls when I had never done any square dance in my life before. I plan more lessons and a lot more practice because it’s fun when I get it right (so people don’t lose patience with me). Most of them are a very patient bunch.
HaPPy berThday dAzz…!!!!ah herd dere wuz sum yak-meat pye (did SuSun mayk it at her pye shop?) an sum gRog tooo….oh… an ahm hopin theres a full day of flyin fun an da botchery…. (wares tteh wimmens?) Happy Birthday DAZZThe world is a better place with you in it.I tried that dissimilar positioning once……took a scout to untie the knot I was in.Did you know Girl Scouts can do knots too??
I love all the greetings, from Lady Kat and Grog. Did not mean to say less about text as that is about all I can do lately. This computer does not have the fancy fonts I had with my Cad on the other. And some of the tricks I learned before don’t work with the latest iteration of GoComics.
Thanks No 6! I’m glad NOT to raise anywhere near 37 pints. I discovered the Brewmeister’s Reserve from Full Sail (we drink a lot of their Sessions Black, and I also often buy the amber ale from that Brewery). The reserve is just under 10% and aged in bourbon barrels, so it has a very rich taste (much better even than a Guinness stout). Last week I bought some of that and some 10 Commandments (another strong ale). Boyfriend does not like gin, so I’m trying to switch to other beverages. Can’t wait to try my hand at brewing after I move.
And thanks, Brian, Bri-no-mite, Sherriff and Veteran. Yes I WAS in scouting, but only cubs (no girls) and in SCA, I’m Lady Beatrice Fayrewether of the Aviary. Dissimilar positioning is rather fun (but no splits) I’m pretty flexible though. I’m sure that even meat pies from Susan’s shop will be very tasty and the flying sounds like fun (if boyfriend ever builds his plane I hope to ride in it with him).
Looks like I missed the birthday girl and all the festivities, but I did try to dodge the bees and rabbits for a sip of wine and then some of SUSAN’s cake!STEL, your card is perfect, of course.Everyone really hit the theme spot on.Happy, happy Birthday, DAZZ!
My Birthday was the best ever, starting with you guys, Skypes from my kids and many FB greetings, and finishing with dinner, dancing, graduation with my new badge, and a bedtime cocktail around 1AM.
This morning, tho’ he confessed that he’s begun also seeing someone else, so it’s back to the websites for me (I need a man to love who can be happy with just me). He said it’s just that he likes variety.
I still like the homes and clubs in Sun City, but I won’t limit just to there.

Bev…. I hope the bees don’t actually sting!

SusanSunshine Premium Member about 10 years ago
BEV!!! NO!!!
Do you want me to cry?Say it isn’t so…. they didn’t hurt those hamsters!sniffle…
You must be joking, anyway, about releasing predatory birds…. right?
We have tiny little monkeys in and out of here all the time….and a dozen or so work tomorrow night. And bunnies and mice who come in for a beer.
>You wouldn’t do that…. would you?

2Old… but it could be useful…just tell him he can use it as a handle, like a pull bar….
Always nice to have help for standing up.

Susan: Let me know when Dazz blows out the candles! That cake looks fantastic, and I want a slice for sure!

More cake?
Anyone else for cake?
Did you guys notice I turned off the glitter?
