Hey, I don’t mean I’ve never had a TV, or replaced one… they’ve just all been second hand. The one I have now was new once…but not for me, is all. That was in the 80’s ….and it came to me in this century…so it’s new.
Bought a 33in flat screen back in March. The remote has over forty buttons, of which I use only two – On/Off and Source – to switch between computer monitor and DVD screen (AV).
Ours is second hand and works nicely. I’d like to gt one of those smart TVs that get internet. I would save a lot of cash by upgrading internet and downgrading cable and streaming Netflix and a few other sites.
Hubby bought a wide screen TV about 5 years ago. It’s not the sort that hangs on the wall; it weighs a ton. It took three people to get it up the steps into the TV room. It will go with the house when we sell it.
My big heavy 27" is about 5 years old (in my bedroom), my 36" flat screen in the family room is also about 2 years old. My boyfriend just bought a new 60" flat and surround sound, but we only watch it a little (usually have the radio on), Sometimes watch a movie after dinner.
Dad’s solution is, of course, to walk up to the set and use the controls on the set. Unfortunately, at least in our home, all the sets are plasma flat screens and hanging on the walls!.You will need a step stool and a flashlight to reach, see, and operate the controls on the side of our sets. And fingers the size of a two year old as well…

I never had a TV of my own and can’t say that I’ve missed it.

It was last year or the year before. The bedroom TV died so we replaced it with the living room TV and bought a new for the living room.
