Finally some action, hopefully the soap opera is over.I doubt if Axel escapes, being that he’s on an island with his hands cuffed behind his back. That makes it hard to swim.
Before I get flamed TOO much, what I mean by Harold Gray being a sicko is, he seemed to delight in finding new ways to put his little heroine into mortal danger!

That Ladygagagoogoo is one bad (shu’cher mouth !)Some spiffy lookin’ graphics there Mister ! ^^Hey thx, man! Since I do this little comic for free, it’s more of a labour of love, for me, than anything else. ;)
Good morning Gweedo. My (official) “VB logotype” was created using Harold’s Fonts “OK Monograms”. Harold said, “It was inspired by the logo from my Lionel-Porter chemistry set.” Harold has created numerous monogram sets and unique fonts.
Aaaand in all the excitement no one notices Axel as he slips quietly away…...I’d expect that comment from *Avenger09 or tsull2121!.And from Mikeyj:.So, in the end, Annie dies in a nuclear holocaust… I think Harold Gray would have approved; he was kind of a sicko! lol.Agreed!
It may have been on a day like this, that former Author/Artist DICK LOCHER, ‘looked in’, doing his occasional check, curiously - looking to see what had been happening, in Dick Tracy (?)
If he did today, he might have noted the quandary of Prof. Kenyon, seen running, smoke in the background. Coping with his experimental misfortunes and their EXPLOSIONS’ (Likely suppressing a SMILE) - how familiar the results were, to his own Dr.Noll (2009) of perfume fame, and the ‘possibility’ crossing his mind, that his – Dr.Noll, might well have been the “inspiration” for the “absent-minded” Kenyon character (?) Exploding Bombs - and all that ?
But the irregular visit might have driven more by curiosity of a different kind, really to see if there had been any recent panels featuring events in the LOCHER Auditorium, the kind creation of a sort of memorial for his long association with the Dick Tracy strip. He appreciated those. There had already seen a few of them. Sadly he might have remembered that the Family related ones he had “entrenched” in the strip had been removed and.Junior Tracy looked the SAME as he had prior to his 1990’s facial conversion, and that the Yellow Rubber Ducky (memorial) he had concealed so discreetly in his Sunday pages, was now only a ‘distant memory’.
As he recalled those unkind Critiques of his pacing, particularly when, inadvertently, he had left Tracy standing (and operating from) in a Circus Ring for 8 comIc strip weeks, Long enough to order and get back Forensic Results from HQ, and time enough, for FBI Agent Ennen to Fly in (‘all the way’)- from Washington and still find him stoically standing * there, in that 2009 Summer story !
Perhaps as his attention turned back to the current adventure of theTracy. That sojourn in Simmons Corners, our ‘Auditorium’ man felt a touch of ’relief*, even vindication (?) Tracy in this tale, had been there, sensibly in part, spying on villain Axel, but had seemingly ’ ambled around ’ (aimlessly?) in that 1944 town, for the rest of some - 10 comic strip weeks - From Barber to Baker, to Egg Farmer/Bomb Maker, even the Theatre, (ostensibly) to develop Escape plans, but appeared to eat Popcorn instead
As he clicked off the connection, he might have felt a touch of justification, he had a Pulitzer for Editorial Cartoons, but hadn’t won any notable comic strip awards, yet in contrast, his minor slips ‘off the track’ weren’t so bad after all.
Gee the 2nd panel definitely reminds me of the good old days! Tracy’s too scared to even open his eyes as he nervously asks Sam what’s happening! Ahhh the memories! LOL! When was the last time Dick captured a bad guy? The lame Jumbler?
I’ll say it again…… the whole project seems illegal, and Axel (with Kenyon) ought to be run in by Fritz Ann. If the ka-floom is nuclear, that adds still another layer of illegality! I can see the DHS, ATF, NRC, and FBI all over it! Fritz Ann has the Grand Jury occupied for the next six months!
I am still curious as to why Prof. Kenyon looks so much like the Annie character Ezra Eon? Eon is supposedly dead but Kenyon is a dead ringer. Is there something everyone has overlooked?
Have to wonder how big the blast will be.Destroy a few farms? Half the town? The whole island?Maybe open a space-time portal that sends Axel back to the stone age? Will Mr. Am have to step in to save the townsfolk?-Or maybe it will all be a big dud.A few sparks, the promise of excitement and action, and then, a whole lot of nothing.
Flee, fly, fly, fleeYou’d better listen to mePick ‘em up and put ’em downKenyon’s gonna vaporize the townIf you head you wish to keepBetter make with those fleety feetDon’t be slow, be real fastThere’s about to be a mighty blastHurry, hurry, you better scurryTime for you to really worryA blinding flash, a mighty roarAnd then you’ll be never moreRun, run, you better scootNo time for that suit of zootOh the horror , Oh the humanityThis whole thing is just insanityWe’re going to released from all our painsFor very soon “There Will Come Soft Rains”
