I substituted once a class of six-year-olds in a Sunday School at church. Could not get them to sit still or be quiet no matter what for an hour. The adults in the room next door later told me they heard the whole thing and were laughing their heads off—no doubt counting their blessings that they were not responsible. Could not imagine how the regular teacher managed it—though she later told me she used bribery and a candy jar…..

At least they’re glorified. There’s no substitute for substitutes.

I did it two different semesters… the most recent being fall 2009. I still have nightmares.
