Yes, I did know that…some Latino families in Tucson, for example, have been there for 6 or 7 generations. While they still speak Spanish, their American accent overrules a Latino “accent.” JMO.

The funny part is that there is a regional accent in Southern California that exists on both sides of the US/Mexico border and people of all races speak with it.

Of course all Latinos have accents. Everybody has an accent! I know plenty of Latinos with New York, Texas, Bay Area, Chihuahua, Buenos Aires, and even English (from England) accents. They may not be what everyone expects, but they are accents. /pedant

i have yet to get the definition of ‘hispanic.’spanish surname? bill richardson…ancestors spoke spanish? mayan languages…came from south of the present US/Mexican border? some families have been here before the US was the US.

Considering we’re dealing with a strip that even dzw was happy with, it’s a decent start. Again, there’s always room for criticism. It’d just be interesting to see if it’s possible to do it in a more congenial way.
