So… Abner Kadaver is still alive! Also, it seems that the three characters in today’s strip (each with their own frame) are the three equal “ringleaders” in charge of the Blackhearts.
Tell Dick Tracy, and Sam Catchem,News that brings Liz, and Ebony down,Oh the line forms, on the right babe,Now that Abnerrrrrr’s, back in town!Look out Kadaver’s back!
I’m not surprised Abner survived the cement trap. That stuff hardens from the top down, doesn’t it?And it couldn’t have been quick drying – a crust would have formed over the top just while waiting for Tracy. So after he fell in, it was still liquid (thick, but liquid). And he was sure to have an emergency exit.-—It would have made an excellent escape route, too.If he’s surrounded, dive in.Who would follow him?
Again, we have a Greek god/outer space connection. The sun (Apollo). the moon (Melies), and Venus. Are these folks somehow connected with the Lunarians? They wanted that space coupe pretty bad last year. Also, does Venus also have a connection with the sea? That phrase “Dead fish dead” seems to point in that direction. And the goddess Venus was born from the sea, too.
The Royal Flush Gang was introduced in the Justice League of America back in 1966. The founder/leader was Amos Fortune, a bad guy patterned after Peter Lorre, who first appeared in JLA #6.Since then, the Gang has be written, re-written, re-re-written and sometimes simply rotten by DC for comics and TV shows.
…..wonder if we’ll ever know HOW one escapes being totally submerged in cement for a long period of time, lol. Oh well, Abner re-appearing in person ON Halloween would be a cool idea; I wonder……..
A brief Crimestoppers Minute about Kevin Vickers, the Canadian House of Commons Sergeant-at-arms who is credited with stopping the shooter just metres away from reaching any of the politicians. To look at him wearing the old-fashioned uniform of the Sergeant-at-arms, you might think he had a mostly ceremonial position, given that one of his most obvious jobs is to lead the procession into the House of Commons carrying the ceremonial mace, but he’s more than that.
His job is to oversee security in the House of Commons and the offices pertaining to the members of parliament. He personally emerged from his office to shoot the gunman in the hallway and many of the members credit him with saving their lives (although there were other security people also firing guns and the bullet could have come from one of them).
Mr. Vickers served for 29 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police before eventually becoming the sergeant-at-arms in 2005. ‘He has been vocal about finding the proper balance between security and public access, dignitaries and regular Canadians, holding to his promise, when he was took the post, that “there would be no wall built” around Canada’s Parliament.’ The leader of the Green Party says, “He is always on the lookout. He thinks about security with a 360-degree antenna.”
Security around Parliament Hill is rather complicated, with the House of Commons Security Services looking after their half of the building, the Senate Protective Service looking after their half, the RCMP patrolling the grounds outside, and the Ottawa city police in charge of the street in front.
Abner Kadaver borrowing a page from Criss Angel’s playbook on that one, apparently. And with that last panel, winter’s already heating up. Thanks, Team Tracy!
I forgot to mention that members of the Senate Protective Service were not even allowed to have guns until this summer and it’s hard to say how many are armed now. There was a report that the Usher of the Black Rod, the senate equivalent of the Sergeant-at-arms, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, but there were a lot of false reports, so I can’t say whether that is true.
I can think of many worse things to do than sit around all day drinking martinis and looking at a beautiful redhead dressed like Venus. Shades of Jessica Rabbit!

Great rendering of Méliès in Panel 2. If the image could be enlarged enough, it would make a good Hallowe’en mask.

One could say that pic of Melies shows his “dark side”.

Last panel – the eight of spades on the wall…Shades of the 52 Gang from the early 60’s!

Point of order, moon guy, “all organized crime” does not mean “all but these last two guys.”

From that preview panel, Kandikane is obviously a huge fan of Vitamin (her “dream project”). I definitely see romance in the air.
