It did occur to me she could have filled up the bucket and thereby got a few more things on sale. Wait, stupid, definitely stupid!

Know way too many folks like that…and they breed.

Like the small sign: No returns between 9 & 5, coincidentally, isn’t that their hours of business? LOL!

Methinks you do not want to cross discounting swords with Ma. Lots of people don’t pay attention to the Terms and Conditions of discounting and give money away. Rest assured that’s not Ma!

People never do the math….I used to work for a store, helping with their periodic sales….We discovered that “buy one, get one half price” drew far more customers than “25% off any purchase.”…25% off everything is exactly the same deal, if the two items are the same price, but a much better deal if the 2nd item is cheaper….plus you can get a sale price without buying things in twos.

But people only hear “Half price.”

As for Ma….On a bucket that costs, say, $7…. she saves $1.40.Say the other 25 items average $3 apiece… that would be $75…and she would have saved $15 putting all those in the bag instead.

Even putting some into the bucket inside the bag might have saved her another 8 bucks.

Doesn’t sound too wily to me.….

When I worked for a large big box home improvement retailer to help out our customers, we would put their entire order on on “Will Call” ticket and put it in the bucket. It fit therefore 20% off for the customer. We could work around anything for good customer service, if we had a gracious customer. The Pennys however. Forget it.

Ya’ll ain’t got it yet. It ain’t Ma’s first rodeo. She’s been to three, plus a goat roping, and she’s read the fine print that says nothing in the bag is returnable. And that sign? Pffft! Ma’s worn them down before. The cart’s full of things she can use most of before returning them with some complaint. And the bag was free. When it comes to plain, chiseling cheapness, you’re not going to get the better of Ma. .I will admit that her range of complaints isn’t too broad. The potpourri will be returned “because it smells funny.” She’ll use the same complaint for the Vagisil.

Wherever Ma shops there is an old bag sale.
