People never do the math….I used to work for a store, helping with their periodic sales….We discovered that “buy one, get one half price” drew far more customers than “25% off any purchase.”…25% off everything is exactly the same deal, if the two items are the same price, but a much better deal if the 2nd item is cheaper….plus you can get a sale price without buying things in twos.
But people only hear “Half price.”
As for Ma….On a bucket that costs, say, $7…. she saves $1.40.Say the other 25 items average $3 apiece… that would be $75…and she would have saved $15 putting all those in the bag instead.
Even putting some into the bucket inside the bag might have saved her another 8 bucks.
