Must be the 86th anniversary of “Steamboat Willy.”
Ahhh Ha-ha… Talk about an interesting cross-over cartoon!
According to IMDb and thewaltdisneycompany.com, Steamboat Willie was released on November 18, 1928. Close enough for me!
This is why I love the Lio strip. Mark finds time, on many occasions, to pay homage to someone/something from our childhood.
Nice tribute…
Uh oh.
The worst part isn’t the wait; it’s listening to the non-stop whistling while the boat’s going through…
Very clever.
You mean this isn’t a commentary on how Disney has gotten Congress to distort the copyright laws to forever protect Mickey Mouse?
Just like Chicago. When the bridges over the Chicago River go up to let boats pass to their winter harborage this time of year, all traffic stops. —Same for Lio and Ishmael when Steamboat Willie finally passes [was that a pun?]….
Thanks for the Steamboat Willie cartoon! Even though it’s WAY older than I am, I really enjoyed seeing it again! :-)
