Security alert – Janis you just broadcasted “wireless” speak to every baby monitor in the neigborhood, and a few other PEDs may pick it up too. So – safe as in???
Back in the ‘80s and ’90s I had a radio scanner that could pick up many kinds of “wireless” traffic. And that was before most of the cordless phones were scrambled. You wouldn’t believe the things people would talk about over those things. Like drug deals. I even overheard one guy talking about wanting to kill his wife.
Back in the “good old days” I bet a lot of things were said, and listened-in-to by others on the Party Line telephone systems, even though everyone knew others could eavesdrop.
My father was paranoid. He assumed all the phones at his paper mill could be monitored and never said anything he minded management hearing.Every once in a while he would say something strange to test them. A few minutes later, his foreman would come by knowing what Daddy had made up.Maybe he wasn’t paranoid enough..Now CELL phones actually can be monitored….
When I was quite young, we had party lines. I never heard anything juicy, as we hung up whenever we learned that the phone was being used. Once, however, I had asked an acquaintance over when in the second or third grade. She picked up the phone and was soon laughing and laughing. My mom noticed, took away the phone, and apologized to Whoever on the other end of the line.
Arlo installed it for the opportunity to serve his Wife anywhere. He really enjoys serving her here as Janis gets ready to go out to meet her “old friend from college” she found on facebook last week.
Once the word got out that monitoring was possible, every Electronics engineer and Tech could beat feet to the parts store and create his own device. And, all those retired Government Spooks needed a way to augment their retirement pay.

Looks like one of Arlo’s schemes to get in the bathroom to me…

Janis, “that thing” is safe. What’s not safe is having Arlo come in while you’re taking a bath.

At first I thought Arlo was talking about the mug.

I worked in the Long Lines department of AT&T. I learned to NEVER tell my secrets on anything, wired or wireless.

It’ll be funny when the mom listening to the baby monitor hears that request for a cuppa tea.
