Paleo peoples did a lot of cooking. The most easily located indicator of a living site is the old hearth, the blackened stones and ask layer. Meat could, of course, be cooked over a flame. Prior to pottery, boiling was accomplished by heating rocks and placing them in a hide basin of water. The hallmark of paleo life was applied knowledge of where to find resources that changed throughout the year. When what ripened where. When which animals were where and when they were easiest to kill. After generations of accumulating knowledge, you get pretty good at it. So, if there’s a genuine “paleo” diet, it implies eating anything edible in its season, and one of the most common food remains in paleo sites is the shells of land snails.

Cavemen ate jars of cheese balls? Did they get their heads stuck in the jars, too?

Our ancestors had no choice, eat that or starve. Now it’s a fad diet.

Never heard of the paleo diet, but I assume it would mean eating only what grows/lives locally?

As a caveman, I find this strip extremely insulting.

Is this how Space Cavemen eat?

And bugs. Lots and lots of bugs. That’s the REAL Paleo diet, but the advocates conveniently forget to mention that.

Of course you’ll keep fit if you have to chase your dinner all over the tundra before you eat it.
