Caption: The Blind Date Man: Hi! Woman: Hi! Man: I've got to admit I'm pretty nervous about this... Woman: Oh, me too! Maybe we should just cut to the chase and tell each other what we're actually looking for. For me, it's a companion I can trust COMPLETELY...someone who will always live in the moment......and who will remain loving and devoted, even when I'm fat, gray and wrinkled. Man: Me too... Both: LET'S GO!! Man: Nice meeting you! Woman: Same here.

Some famous person said ‘if you want a friend, get a dog’. I guess the suggestion here is, if you want someone to trust who remain loyal and devoted, even as you age, adopt a pet. Sounds sadly realistic, these days…

Dogs want you to own them. Cats know they own you.

Men are from the red wine dog planet and women are from the white wine kitty planet! .

Sing it Elvis….“I’ll have a blue, blue kitty without you…”

I hope they didn’t just leave the wine there….Chug-a-lug guys….

Of course if you’re more than twenty years away from the “fat, gray and wrinkled” thing, the dog or cat you have now probably won’t be there to share it with you. Better get a parrot. Or a tortoise.

This is actually a repeat or an earlier strip and I am very glad to see it because I had it up for several years before it aged. My family has done animal rescue for 4 generations soon to be 5

I guess you can want too much from just one person – not a cat or a dog, apparently.

We adopted Snoopy (I one year tabby) this May. He’s been a joy!

Dogs love you without reservation, cats are wild animals that live in your house and (barely) tolerate you. Both are generally more reliable than people.

As Paulie Walnuts says: a cat is a snake with fur.

Outside of a dog, a book is mans best friend. Inside a dog it Is much too dark to read

when you chose your pet make sure you find one that matches your lifestyle. Mismatching even fur-buddies is why shelters are full.

I wondered what would happen when my bride got older, heavier, grayer. Turns out, it doesn’t affect how I feel about her at all. 34 years later, I still get giddy excited in her arms.

@WileyI read this tale late last night – couldn’t think of a thing to say. Now – on the re-read – I FINALLY see the name of the place where the people were having wine. Wonderful idea Wiley!whether or not the man & woman meet again is for another strip at another time. But to have a place to go – to meet someone new AND to find a four footed friend. Both dog and cat look happy. As do the humans. The SPCA should try this.

Check out PetFinder. But, watch which organization. If you can find a dog pound, humane society, they will let you have them for the cost of a vet putting them in good shape, which you would have to spend on a stray. Some of the groups seem to be a scam, charging $400-$500 for a dog or cat.

Before entering a relationship with another person:1. Know and like yourself.2. get rid of excess baggage, material, mental and spiritual.3. You’re going to change over time and so is your partner. Accept it.
These are lessons I learned only after my first marriage went bad. Both of us had a lot of maturing to do.

I’m sorry to break everyone’s bubble here, but while it is true that our pets would probably love us just as much as we age, the reality is that we will never know for sure, because they live at most 15 to 20 years and we don’t really age too much in that time frame. More so if we got them from a rescue place, as they usually were already a few years old at the time.

If she wants something loving and devoted… why is she getting a cat? I’m a long-time cat person and I know not to expect love and devotion from felines.
Varnes almost 10 years ago
drickard, I disagree….Cats show love, just differently….They do make you earn it though…

btw: my current cat and dog are both “rescues” as have been my previous ones, of both species. My son’s 4 cats, 1 dog, and a rabbit, are also “rescues”, one cat had literally been thrown in a dumpster as a kitten.
Only one wife for the last 45 years, she rescued me, sort of. Hmm, getting to the stage where the litter box needs to be closer to the bed (with matress warmer too boot!).

After many bad marriages Doris Day did not trust any men. She felt her pets would never betray her. I sure wish she make a new movie. She is one hot babe.
