One time we had a bad snowstorm. My husband had decided to wait until the storm was pretty much over to shovel our driveway, while a co-worker of his decided to go out every 1/2-hour to stay on top of it. Near the end of the storm it turned into rain and actually washed all of the snow away. My husband didn’t have to do a lick of shoveling, while the co-worker had been out during most of the storm! Who says putting it off doesn’t pay?
I call it my solar powered snow shovel. As I walk my dog around my neighborhood, I realize I’m not the only one with this philosophy. Who’s the overachiever that came up with notion that your driveway should be clear of snow all the time?
In much of Northern Minnesota, they just drive over it! Although I live south of the Twin Cities, I pretty much prefer this approach. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending upon your outlook, we have a neighbor who is like K.C. Fahel pointed out, and he frequently can be found shoveling our drive!.It is unnecessary as snowfalls 1-1/2" or greater will be cleared by our lawn service anyway…

Now how does that work with raking leaves: let the wind blow them off the yard?

We’ve here in central KS not much on snow. Now bitter temps keeps the ice around longer. We have warming temps from Thursday until Sunday.

The City of Lowell, MA has a very efficient snow removal system: spring thaw.

A Neighbor once told me that shoveling while it was snowing is fighting a losing battle. I still follow that mantra to this day.
