Well, Nancy Kerrigan didn’t have 18000 look-alikes hanging out at every Walmart to cover her bases.

Rat can have one of mine. I bought 4 boxes of Bob’s candy canes yesterday. In fact, I was thinking about getting one about the time I started reading this strip. I’ll take that as a sign that I should eat one.

A friend of mine pointed out that although Nancy Kerrigan was the good girl and Tonya Harding was the bad girl…Most guys in their hearts know that Tonya would be a lot more fun to party with than Nancy…

As both a fan and a skater, I agree that when it came to natural talent, Tonya was the better skater. However, she was also lazy, wouldn’t practice and was frequently out of shape, and blamed all her problems on everybody but herself. She was damned lucky to be offered that plea deal because the Feds had more than enough on her to put her away for a few years. She is a sad story; the biggest waste of real skating talent the US ever saw. She should have had multiple world and at least one Olympic medal, but she managed to always snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with her stupid behavior.

And the partying Tonya is the one that ended up with a current TV comedy gig, one of those where a panel of “comedians” comment on random videos on the internet..

“Foreign language reference”? Granted, every language is foreign somewhere in the world, but still, what do you consider the “foreign language” to be here? Just curious.

Isn’t the whole Harding/Kerrigan reference a bit old? That was what, 30 years ago? How about something from this century (or millennium for that matter.)

It was 20 years ago, Carl42SG. Almost 21, in fact (it happened just before the 1994 Nationals). And figure skating in this millennium (or at least, this decade) sadly began declining sometime after about 2006, at least among the single American male and female skaters and the American pairs skaters. Now, American Ice Dancing — that’s another matter! :)

I misread the W in “fellow” as an N — Santa telling Rat, “Why hello, little felon” somehow works though.

That rat is something else. You gotta love or hate him. I agree that some things should remain in the past. Both ladies deserve a break from the skate hauting. Bad, bad Stephan. That’s why you’re living on your front porch now.

Tonya did not hurt anyone. Her idiot boyfriend master-minded that deed and probably hurt her performance at the Olympics.
