Jeepers, fire fighters everywhere! Tracy is just as bad as Gruesome, if not worse, when it comes to climbing deliberately up to the top of a burning wooden windmill! At least Gruesome had his excuse, that a burning timber cut him off (from ground-level exit). I guess Tracy is really, really hot to make this collar! Calling Dr. Henry Frankenstein!
There’s no way the roof hatch can open wide enough for a grown person to get out based on the way the bracket is drawn in panel 2. Maybe the heat melted it! LOL!
The US is one of the few countries to not completely ban asbestos which is legal and still widely used in products like clothing, pipeline wraps, vinyl floor tiles, millboards, cement pipes, disk brake pads, gaskets and roof coatings
“If I’m lucky…” No such luck, Gruesome. Tracy is waiting for you! I bet you didn’t expect that. Criminals on rooftops haven’t had much luck with Tracy lately.
“There’s no escaping ‘The Heat’ this time…” I just noticed the pun referencing both the flames and the police. I think I was tired last night when I read this.
WOW! Tracy has been hiding his psychic abilities all these years! He just KNEW that gruesome was going up to the top of the windmill when poor old Samuel had no idea! Could it POSSIBLY be that tracy will actually (gasp) APPREHEND an adversary this time?!?!?!

and of course an arrest means Gruesome will re-appear down the line…..probably replacing Double-Up as a potential Blackheart recruit, which would be a good thing thing..
I am really surprised that none of the commenters has mentioned the possibility that both Gruesome and Tracy might escape the flames by jumping on the windmill’s vanes as they go past. Gruesome should jump first; he seems to be the one closer to them.

Maybe Gruesome had decided his own fate when he asked Sara Karloff if he could write her from prison.

My guess is Gruesome dies a flaming death and Tracy barely escapes with smoke damage.

Plotting an ambush atop a burning building though?
Fire is, was, and remains bad.
Just ask Smokey …

The second confrontation. This time Gruesome has no bomb to save him from “the heat.” Classic Tracy in the third panel is icing on the cake.

I suspect that there are a number of songs that would fit right now:
“Ring of Fire,” Johnny Cash“Fire,” The Crazy World of Arthur Brown“Heat Wave,” Martha & the Vandellas, Linda Ronstadt“Burning Love,” Elvis Presley
I’m sure you folks can come up with more…“Disco Inferno”-The Trammps.
