Actually got an object lesson in that from one of my grad school profs. He was shopping for a brain bucket when he encountered a former student, who tried to upsell him to (what was then a terribly expensive) $80 helmet. “What’s the difference,” he asked, “between this one and that $25 one there?” “Look, doc,” the kid replied, “you spent an awful lot of time and money filling that head with knowledge. You really want to trust that to a $25 bucket?” He bought the more expensive helmet.
