Snoopy was such a cute puppy in these early strips.
“Are you lookin’ at me?”
I don’t recall seeing Charlie Brown be mean to anyone before, and I have been following Peanuts for most of my life.
And Snoopy sure was a cute puppy in those early years too.
Years later, Charlie Brown gave Shermy a lecture for not calling someone by their right name…
“What’d I do?!? What’d I do?!?”
Charlie Brown was a very abusive person in the early days. I perfer him ‘wishy-washy’.
You say that like it was a bad thing!
Snoopy’s nephew, however, can’t be a purebred beagle, what with looking like the Pink Panther, as Snoopy memorably commented years (decades?) later, in one of my all-time favorite strips.
Snoopy is confused because CB is not using his name, which is the only thing a dog listens for anyway.*
*Lessons learned from “The Far Side” by Gary Larson
He might be training Snoopy to help CB retrieve his kite from the kite eating tree…
At least he didn’t call him a son of a b— (which would also have been perfectly accurate.)
It seems weird to see Charlie Brown without the jagged stripe on his shirt.
