Just use your caller ID and don’t answer any calls if it doesn’t identify the person or organization who is calling. If caller ID only shows a phone number or a location, it’s a junk call. Just pick up and immediately hang up.

I have been getting debt collector calls that state at the beginning that if are not the person they are calling press 1 now but if you stay on the line you are admitting you are that person; difficult to answer when my answering machine on my land line phone does not have a response mode. I f I am not home how was I suppose to respond my self?

Remind me to do that next time.

I have decided if I get nabbed by one of those ‘junk calls’ – to be nice. Sweetly nice. Sometimes you have to repeat the same thing over and over and over because they won’t stop talking. Other times – just let them talk and talk and talk and at the end say “Terribly sorry, not interested” or “Sorry, but Canadian law states I don’t have to pay if I won a prize”

sometimes – if you’re nice enough – you can drive them crazy.

It’s only fair. If the machine thinks you’re listening while it talks nonsense, you can go ahead and think it listens while YOU talk nonsense. That’s my theory.
