As someone who has Raynaud’s, I can see what his mistake was.Fingered gloves are the worst. They separate the fingers which makes them cold faster. I have to mear mitts or non-fingered gloves if I’m outside in the cold any length of time, sometimes with the small chemical heaters inside.

If he has Raynaud’s, he’s dancin’ to the blues instead. His COAT is the right color if not his hands.

Frazz just needs better gloves – anyone that athletic probably has great circulation.

Had that already this year. I was out shoveling snow in single digit/sub zero wind chill for about 3 hours. My hands felt fine until I went back inside…

I used to commute to work in 10˚ F temps on a 750. Not much works at those wind chill levels, 10˚ and 70 mph. My hands never froze but I was glad the ride was only 36 miles.

As a second generation SoCaler I have no experience of anything like this. When temps ‘dip’ to the mid-50s we’re out with parkas, caps, and complaining of ‘freezing’.My nephew, who grew up here, now lives in southern Michigan and deals with sub-freezing weather every winter. He actually wants to stay there.

I think you meant he has a large surface area.It is the taller, thinner people (I’m 5’11", 130 lbs) that can’t hold in the heat as well, and suffer in the cold.

As someone who bikes all winter in whatever weather, -30 Celcius, it is really important to learn how to switch gears and brake wearing mitts.

Forget the gloves versus mittens stuff. If you go out without your windproof undershorts, you’ll really know the meaning of pain when she warms up…

As a bike rider, I’ve tried many different types of gloves. Surprisingly, ski gloves were one of my least effective efforts. The best I’ve found are “pop-top” gloves. Those that convert from mittens to fingerless. Just cloth with a thin layer of Thinsulate. These are great, but I still wish I could find some with a more wind-proof outer shell, if only on the mitten part.
