Frankly, I would have expected the pilot to have a good idea of where she was (especially if she expected to get down to Key West.)

At least, she should know if she was on Gulf coast or Atlantic. What about tide or storm surge sweeping plane and contents out to sea?

Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one…

As I read some of these oh so serious comments, I am reminded of Charles Schulz speaking to questions about accuracy in some of the Peanuts gang’s adventures:“Oh for crying out loud—-it’s a comic strip!”

It might take a while for the rain to stop; it is time to snuggle girls.

That’s why DHC2 Beavers do not have landing gear like that. The solid axle Ms. Braddock added kept it from flexing to absorb the hard landing.

I have to say, if I was asked to get on that plane, I wouldn’t have just questioned it like Jane. I would have wanted to see the plane’s latest inspection report. Four people in an old tail dragger, and some of the people being dodgy at best? Stop and think.

@chassimmons“For crying out loud—-it’s a comic strip!” was Charles Schulz’s personal expression and concerned the daily business of getting out a comic strip. It had nothing to do with responding to “Christian complaints”—-or anything specific.Schulz was himself a devout Christian. As to the plane losing altitude, that appears to be coincidental to the lightning strike, rather than cause and effect—-in any case it’s all just to create a situation without which there’d be no story.
