Why should Calvin even care as long as he’s called on time for supper?

“As to being “politically correct” that is a misuse of that term. Totally has nothing to do with politics.”—George Orwell had it right. It’s called doublespeak. And we didn’t learn the lesson when we could see what was coming, because of it.

Whether ‘politically’ correct or not, Calvin seems to be a bit scientifically incorrect, with his stunted little Y chromosome and only one full-sized X ;-) .

At least he’s only likely to be called a ‘boy’ till he’s about 20.

Folks, and I mean each of us, please keep the tone civil. Mr. Watterson frequently includes social commentary in his humor, and if we ignore the “humor” part, we are missing the main point — spreading laughter and smiles.

Actually, the Y chromosome is but a shadow of the X, so it is more correct to say that males are chromosomally challenged.

Sadly this is no longer a joke in some circles. Aren’t there 14 different “genders” now?

It’s really quite shocking to me that there are commenters on here that don’t seem to see the humor of this strip. Why would they be drawn to C&H, I wonder, if this type of humor grated on them?

These days it seems that whatever you choose to say to strangers to be respectful you are likely to offend someone. Why even bother? If people are too thin-skinned to recognized that you are trying to be respectful and they angrily turn and nit-pick your choice of how to express your attempts, you might as well not even bother trying to be respectful. Why not be guilty of what you are going to be accused of anyway? Political correctness, it seems, yields a society where no one can be truly successful at being respectful.

When I was 19, I thought about referring to myself as a ‘woman’ instead of a ‘girl’ as soon as I turned 20.Now I’m 20, I still don’t feel right being referred to as a woman. Guess I’ll grow up when I’m ready!xxx
