Mine is a Jazz version of “Midnight in Paris”At least I know its my phone. Husband’s is a generic one everybody has, it rings and everyone around him looks at their phone.
Anyhow…. I use the closest to acceptable ringtone out of the list of unbelievably bad choices available on my Samsung phone.
There are about 3 dozen…. including not one recognisable song…they’re mostly composed of what seem to be vibraphone or xylophone notes, bird calls and drumbeats, with a few simulated jungle or beach noises, and electronic sounds.
In fact, I use the same tone for the alarm as for incoming calls, so I can’t tell which is waking me up….but it’s better than whispery jungle drumbeats and a crescendo of twittery bird calls.
Some day I gotta spring for a ringtone, or more likely, download an app to snip one from a song.
My primary ringtone is The Marine Corps Hymn, since I schedule an Honor Guard for veteran’s funerals and deal with funeral directors it’s Amazing Grace for them.
I would like to know when was the first telephone with a ringtone invented and by whom. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, but to get the caller’s attention, you’d yell into the device saying, “ahoy.”
How old is this cartoon!? I was making my own ringtones 10 years ago. Every caller had the same ringtone; but it was one I made up. Made up a lot of SFX for that old phone. And in a lot of ways, that Kyocera 7135 was better designed than anything that’s on the street today.
Just bought a really cheap Windows smartphone. It examined my mp3s and told me to choose from 8,000 ringtones. Have not decided: torn between the Overture to Marriage of Figaro and Foggy Mountain Breakdown.

When I was younger I was lucky. There was a phone in the basement near my room. Yes, I really did live in my parents basement.

Mine is a normal phone ring. When I’m in the car with the radio on, I can’t hear any other tones.

It sounds pretty much like the Rockford Files opening…Of course, my recorded message is a bit different!
