Max: I'm looking forward to the test today.
Phoebe: Why?
Max: Filling in bubbles makes me feel like a ROBOT! It takes a lot of effort not to go "beep boop beep" when we take these.
Phoebe: You actually kind of mutter it under your breath.

Huh, I just noticed the name of the strip is no longer Heavenly Nostrils. When did that happen? I don’t like it. Change it back.
josh_bisbee almost 10 years ago
The strip went into syndication, but the name had to be changed to be accepted by newspapers.

That’ll be why the RSS feed doesn’t work anymore. “Heavenly Nostrils” wasn’t the best name in the world anyway.

Bugger…. I just deleted my prev comment , by accident. Sure some of you ar going to be “i don’t like it” but really it is about Pheobe & her unicorn, I guess Heavenly nostrils was just a “Working” title Syndication is a bee atch but it does pay the bucks EH Dana ?

I don’t mind the title change, but please tell me that WASN’T the reason for all the re-runs.

the only thing that bothers me about the new title is that Marigold isn’t actually Phoebe’s unicorn – as if she owns her – they’re friends! Otherwise – I didn’t think Heavenly Nostrils was a very good name though, so – it’s better.

Gocomics redirects http://www.gocomics.com/heavenly-nostrils to http://www.gocomics.com/phoebe-and-her-unicorn?, which is here. I wonder why the “?” at the end of the new URL.

New Icon, New Name I can understand why from the Marketing POV but it was a bit of a surprise. I’ll still call it Heavenly Nostrils when not making recommendations. but I wounder how Marigold feels having the strip named after Phoebe and not her self?

also whens the strip coming to the Atlantic City Press?

Agreed Phoebe.

If the title was Phoebe and Her Best Friend, would that still be a case of ownership and people would still gripe about it?

Congrats to Dana in having her comic go to syndication!
I also did like the “Heavenly Nostrils” title name, and it kinda does put Marigold into “second billing” (for the vain Marigold, she might give the marketing person a good poke with the horn), but as Ms. Simpson has said yesterday, the book has sold rather well with the new title, so go with what works!

Agreed-the teacher’s are a lot like middle management, catching from above and below. Many school boards focus on how well their district schools perform on standardized tests (bragging rights) and interfere with the effective teachers (and there are many) by pressuring them to “teach to the test”. On the other side they are hounded by parents when they give the child the grade they earned, not the grade the parents think they deserve. You couldn’t pay me enough to become a teacher and I probably wouldn’t last a day because I would be constantly offending either the powers that be or the parents who expect the teachers to make up for the 5-6 years of parental neglect preceding the school years. I am sorry but plunking little Johnny or Jane in front of the boob tube, no matter how “educational” the content may be can never substitute for one on one parental attention. The focus on electronic “teaching aids” only ensures that the kids will be stultified by actually having someone tell them something while standing still at the front of a classroom with happy tunes, dancing animals, and constant praise about what a good learner the child is.

typo in second to last line-the word should be without after classroom and before happy.

I just noticed the change, and the RSS feed works if you change it to phoebe-and-her-unicorn.

As C. S. Lewis points out somewhere, it’s a long road from Phoebe’s boots to Phoebe’s God, with plenty of stops along the way.

I don’t care, whenever I look into my nostrils I will think of this comic strip.

By all means, let’s all get the griping about the title out of our systems, but bear in mind two things:
First, you do not demand anything of either Dana or the strip’s syndicate.
Second, once you’ve discovered a means to survive and prosper without money—including the allowance you get from Mommy—THEN you may carp about “selling out.”

I am so happy the name changed. I had a bad experience with an angel’s nostrils once and it ruined the comic for me. Great call, Dana!
