I had my first when I was 28. Of course, I have IBS, but other than that, the main reason is because I’ve got a family history of colon cancer on both sides of my family. The prep, though, was hellish, especially with damaged nerves from a spinal surgery in my mid-20s. My poor system just did not want to cooperate and flush out, and I almost had to postpone it. I’m not looking forward to my next one in two years…
…the procedure itself was nothing, though. Once they finally got an IV in me (it took four tries), they numbed me, and while I was fully alert the whole time, I didn’t feel a thing.

The prep is worse than the procedure.
