I think the animals and birds are real. They just move away when Gertie is around. Perhaps someone left the gate to the zoo open?

Poor Gertie. Someone needs to get her to an opthamologist. Fast.

Every day I read GA after reading Dick Tracy. I sooooooo wish Jim would draw DT. It could bring back its glory. Sigh…

Setebos– I had the same song in mind. I never knew that lyric was “list’ning to Buck Owens” until now!

Maybe this is similar to the relationship of Wilbur Post and Mr. Ed, in which the animal only chooses to perform for one human being!

Axe-Grinder: I didn’t know it was “Dinosaur Victrola” until I went and looked up the lyrics. I went to several different sources to make certain.

Walt should keep his mouth shut and sit back and enjoy the show.

Creedence Lyrics: Looking Out My Back Door

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy! Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch. Imagination sets in, pretty soon I’m singing,

CHORUS: Doo, doo, doo, Looking out my back door. There’s a giant doing cartwheels, A statue wearing high heels. Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn. A dinosaur Victrola listening to Buck Owens.

    CHORUS

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band. Won’t you take a ride on the flying spoon? Doo, doo doo. Wond’rous apparition provided by magician.

    CHORUS

Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band. Won’t you take a ride on the flying spoon? Doo, doo doo. Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.

    CHORUS

Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy! Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn. Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.

    CHORUS

San Diego Zoo admission starts at $37…. How much are Walt’s meds, and, where can I get some?

No pink elephants yet…but I suppose a purple hippo suffices…

At least it’s a hippo and not that nursing home death cat.

I had a great-aunt who once had a similar reaction to medication. She said she saw a lady standing in the room. “I know she’s not there and you know she’s not there, but I see her anyway.”

I am beginning to suspect that the animals are really there. Whenever Walt mentions them, Gertie refuses to look. Eventually, someone else other than Walt will see the animals - and mention them to Gertie.
