Carol, This could play out quite nicely in a one or two episode Spanish soap opera. Their method of dragging things on until the end where everything happens in the last fifteen minutes would fit this story perfectly.BTW, it really was a good story. Thank you.
Glad you liked it, everybody! If you’re interested, there’s an e-booklet available on Kindle, black and white, with all the naughty bits left intact. It was also featured in “Now Endsville and Other Stories,” a collection from Kitchen Sink Press, long out of print, but a used copy pops up now and then.
Next up: “Invisible City.” I do some ‘splainin’ tomorrow and it starts up on Sunday. The tale is action/adventure/humor set on an alternate or future Earth, starring Madame Asgar and Harry Genius.
After that I will settle into some thoroughly modern murder stories with a dash of dark humor and a twist of love.
Loved the story! Really looking forward to “Invisible City.” I loved Carol’s stuff on Salon back in the day, and it feels really good to be drawn back into that surreal, imaginative world.

There is a sequel, but until the editors agree to the conditions in the proposed contract, it will remain in Limbo.

“that’s the way I want to go, peacefully in my sleep, like Grandpa. Not screaming in terror like the passengers in the car he was driving.”

After going for so long, it feels like it ended so fast! But nice ending, just the same.

A wonderful story has ended all too abruptly. Like the audience at a concert that is brief but terrific, I want to chant, “More! More! More!”

Sweet. A very cool ending to the story. But I wish it had lasted longer.
