Oh, good grief! Donna, you just shocked Mona out of a year’s growth! –And us, the readers. Young lady, try to confront reality: Pierre on his best day is a cad–and it’s rarely his best day.

So much has happened over the past…5 days. We got a glimpse into Mona’s future this week, “Donna’s Wedding 2: International Boogaloo” is starting off well, I’ve come to the realization that “C’est la Vie” is the closest thing to a sitcom in comic strip form I’ve ever seen, and I missed Jen having to lay the smack down on another fool for misinterpreting her vision by probably giving away the series finale and revealing that which I hoped wasn’t true about this strip at the same time.

Ladywolf, you are correct! I would have also accepted:

    “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

    or

    “IN-LAW! SISTER-IN-LAW!”

Quick, Mona, run away to Hawaii with Ryan! That’s gotta be better than Donna as a sister!

I wonder how long it will take for the term “justifiable homicide” to become relevant.

Hmmm. A sister! I wonder…. Could life be twice as much fun? Maybe they will take turns with me. Or fight over me! Yes!

    {Still keeping a low profile}

Five brothers and an overbearing mother, wasn’t it? perhaps I can discern the largest single reason why Mona has been shocked into near-catatonia.

She flew to America to avoid them, after all…

interesting comments by razorback2824…. I’ve been delving into the past history of this and other strips, and reading comments to get to the bottom of who “Joe Doty” is, and I feel I begin to comprehend… in passing I noticed a little spat in these comments pages in January, and how it cross-references to Jennifer B’s blog for January on her CLV pages. Reassuring, in a funny kind of way, to discover others have made presumptions which aren’t grounded in fact, and have been gently corrected for their words.

I’ve also read JB’s response to the little controversy I provoked and I’m more than happy to accept my comments were way off the mark - she should know, after all!

So…spologies for any offence given or factually incorrect assertions made. That really was not my inten tion.

I do like it here and CLV is a favourite strip, so I promise to think before I post in future lest I end up as part of a small select group (there are, I think, two others, who know who they are) who were warned by the author as to their bad behaviour and insensitive commenting.

    thank you.

    Paul

Razorback- I don’t understand how talking about Monsieur Smokey’s origins reveals the end of the strip.

I have been finding out more about “Joe Doty” and there is a bright red embarrassed flush at how appropriate the comparison was. I’m sure he’s a perfectly decent bloke and all that, but… 13,000 postings on this site?

That’s it, then. I really will think before I post anything more complex than a simple “well done, Jen, another winner”, and do everyone a favour…

    “Series Finale” is pushing it.

I was thinking that this comic strip sometimes was an exaggerated autobiography based on Jen’s life. Now that it’s been revealed that it is, one of the loose ends left for Mona is Lucas: will they or won’t they? Right now, there’s a low possibility of that happening, but Mona has been acting differently around Lucas for some time now. According to nearly every anime ever created, you never know with that type of relationship. But if they do get together, what happens next?

I suppose that whenever a creator makes a strip, they put a little bit of themselves into it. I guess the big question is how close one decides to base their life after their comic.

I think we’re all forgetting that this comic started off as a strip in a university paper. I think it’s fair to say that what this strip is about has changed a lot since then.
